Our Beginning

The Embrace Foundation started in 2018, but in actuality, this organization has been in the making since 2015. I, Brandon, was a young, fresh out of the house 19 year old. I was in school, had a full-time job, and had my own apartment. Insurance fell through, and with the bills accrued from school, rent, and the cost of living, I had little to none to spend on the Diabetic supplies I needed to live. With insulin prices being the way they are I felt helpless. I sold anything I could to be able to afford just another couple of units to get me by. I began spending my days off going from hospital to hospital practically begging for insulin. I was at my lowest, I felt helpless. How is a Type 1 Diabetic supposed to survive like this? In a couple of months, I was able to secure stable health insurance, but I couldn’t help but know that others were going through what I just had.

Fast Forward to 2018 - the Embrace Foundation is founded, set on making sure nobody goes through what I once did. Today we receive supplies from Diabetics, repackage and repurpose them, and get them into the right hands.

“No Diabetic should feel like they’re alone. No Diabetic should ration insulin. Embrace is here to fix both problems.”

- Brandon Lopez, Founder
