Frequently
Asked
Questions

How will I get the supplies?

We’ll ship them to you!

Do you have insulin?

Yes, we have insulin that we can send out, though our supply is limited so we are only able to send 1-2 vials/pens per person.

What kind of supplies can I get?

Insulin, pump supplies, glucometers, test strips, limited CGM supplies, and more.

Do you have Dexcom G6 or Freestyle Libre Sensor supplies?

Unfortunately, we have only ever gotten one or two donations of Dexcom G6 Freestyle Libre Sensor supplies and we have a very long waiting list for these supplies.

Is this legal?

Yes.

How much does it cost to get supplies?

The supplies themselves are completely free, but we do request a $10 shipping fee because we rely on monetary donations to fund shipping and other costs of the foundation.

I don't have medical insurance - do I still qualify?

Yes! We will help any diabetic in need. We do not ask any information about your health insurance.

I want to donate insulin, how can I ship it?

Insulin needs to stay between 56°F and 80°F. To make sure the insulin stays between that range please include 2-3 ice packs wrapped around the insulin, along with bubble wrap in a ziplock bag or other container. These ice packs can be found for under a dollar at any convenience, drug or retail store! We always ensure that the insulin is clear and inspected upon arrival to make sure it is safe to use before sending out! If the insulin is cloudy it is no longer usable.

Can I donate expired supplies?

Unfortunately, we cannot send out expired supplies. We know that many diabetics use expired supplies, however, due to liability issues, we are not able to send them out. If you have a box of supplies that you want to donate and are unsure if they are expired, we will sort through them before we send them out.

How do I know that my donation of supplies will be used safely?

With very few exceptions, people are only sent supplies that they have already used before. Additionally, we recommend that every person who is sent supplies follows up with their healthcare provider to confirm that they are using supplies in a medically recommended way.

Do you help people with type 2 diabetes (T2D) or people with hypoglycemia?

Our primary focus is T1D’s so most of the supplies we receive are T1D supplies but If we have the supplies you’re looking for we will send them out!

Can I request supplies more than once?

While we will support anyone who is in need of supplies, our mission is to act as a crisis center for diabetics who are in urgent need of help so we can help as many people as possible. If you are in need of long term support, we encourage you to look through the links below.

I’m in need of long-term assistance for getting supplies, do you know of any way I can get help?

Here are two websites that link to patient assistance programs that may be able to support you: https://insulinhelp.org

How can I help?

The easiest way to help is to send a monetary donation or a donation of supplies! If you want to contribute more, please consider applying to be a volunteer! Other ways to help are by spreading information about the Embrace Foundation online, by word of mouth, or however else you can think of. Spreading the word can help someone who really needs it find support, or even save someone’s life!

Are you sponsored by any pharmaceutical company?

No, we are not.
