The Embrace Foundation started 2 years ago, but in actuality this organization has been in the making for more than 5 years. I was a young, fresh-out of the house 19 year old. I was in school, had a full time job, and had my own apartment. Insurance fell through, and with the bills accrued from school, rent, and cost of living, I had little to none to spend on the Diabetic supplies I needed to live. With insulin prices being the way they are I felt helpless. I sold anything I could to be able to afford just another couple of units to get me by. I began spending my days off going from hospital to hospital practically begging for insulin. I was at my lowest, I felt helpless. How is a Type 1 Diabetic supposed to survive like this? In a couple of months, I was able to secure stable health insurance, but I couldn’t help but know that others were going through what I just had.

Fast Forward to 2017. The Embrace Foundation is founded. Set on making sure nobody goes through what I once did. Receiving supplies from Diabetics, repackaging and repurposing them and getting them into the right hands.

“No Diabetic should feel like they’re alone. No Diabetic should ration insulin. Embrace is here to fix both problems.”

— Brandon Lopez, FOUNDER

Our Mission

Spread Awareness. Create Community. Obtain supplies and get them to Diabetics who can’t obtain or afford them. Six Type 1 Diabetics passed away last year due to not being able to afford proper supplies. Six doesn’t sound like a large number, but when the supplies are available, and there are people out there with those same supplies willing to donate them, it is simply six deaths too much. We plan to end insulin rationing. We plan to make Type 1 Diabetics feel confident and comfortable with this chronic illness by being fully knowledgable on the best ways to manage it. We plan to create a community so strong that every diabetic will know that they have a support system to lean on, ask for advice, and help each other get through the trials that come with Type 1 Diabetes until a cure is found.
